Rohan's Birthday Month

Now the reason that i haven't blogged for all this long is that a) i was busy with guest and celebrations b) I was waiting for all events to be over so that i could blog in one go!


So this blog is about various days we celebrated Rohan's birthday! (Rohan baby after growing up if you ever give me nonsense of "How i should celebrate your birthday" , you will have to read this and know how many ways can momma daddy celebrate your birthday!)

Event 1: Janmashtami / Krishnashtami (13th Aug)
As per tithi / moon calendar Rohan was born on Janmashtami. MIL had planned a puja for the lil dude, but both Grandpa and grandma fell ill hence we had a small celebration by offerring curd, milk and home made butter to Lord Krishna, singing few lines of bhajans and then giving our lil goppala home made butter. Ro ate the butter with great interest. You all have seen the photos with butter all around his mouth.

Event 2: 15th Aug
We had Satyanarayan Puja at home. The pundit who did the puja does all pujas at our place, from our wedding to grah pravesham. He has this very loud booming voice. Rohan was crawling helter skelter through out the puja. He was interested in every small step that the pujari or we did. It took MIL FIL all their strength to keep him away so that he didn't get into trouble or spoil the puja place. Every time the pujari would reach the crescendo while reciting mantras Rohan would freeze mid way and run to whomever was close.


Event 3: 24-Aug

And 1 year back Rohan was born at 10:20 AM. He had wailed with his might on being pulled out of mommy's womb. He still wails when you make him do anything he doesn't like :)

On 24th, our family guru was at our place. Rohan was dressed in a Maroon nehru cut kurta that i got stitched specially for the event. Rohan cut a Rich Chocolate truffle cake from Taj holding the knife along with guruji, while we all sang "Happy Birthday To You". The congregation was all MIL's friends and guruji's desciples. Rohan was so well behaved, he touched the case very tentatively and didn't mess up at all. It was all going so well until one of the aunties got excited and squeezed Rohan's cheeks. He hates its... hence that's it.. he became cranky from there on. Though he was cranky and refused to walk on the sweet puris which were placed before him (this is a telugu ritual) but he was more than willing to take gifts from people. Lunch was organized at home for 50 odd people who came to wish Rohan and meet guruji. It started pouring while the lunch was on but thankfully since people came in lots at intervals, we could accomodate everyone.

Event 4: 29th Aug
Since 24th was a monday we decide to throw a birthday lunch for all relatives and friends on 29th Aug which was a saturday. Lunch because Rohan is very unpredictable in the evenings. Since Ro dear had cut his bday cake on 24th we decided not to make him cut the cake again, And belive me it was a good decision ... check out the photos.. Rohan didnt smile at all. He was watching people and playing with some stuff but overall he was not in his elements.


The lunch was to start at 12:30. Ramesh and other family members (Rohan's nanaji, grandpa, granma, SIL FIL kid) all left earlier than me, my ma, Prabha(the nanny) and the chief guest Mr.Darbha Amrit Rohan (just in case you guys forget sotu gaddu's name given that his mamma keeps calling him Ro in her blogs). Now that very day Rohan decided to sleep till 11 am after his breakfast, though generally he wakes up by 1030. Me , ma , nanny we all were ready we all dressed, his food ready, his clothes ready .. the driver waiting... but lil dude was sleeping as if he hadnt slept for ages. Finally Prabha woke him.. this irritated him, he saw me and clung to me and sc ratched his face against my necklace.. that further added to his chagrin. Somehow he was fed and dressed. We started off at 12 .. but by the time we reached the venue we were running good 20 min late as we got got stuck in a traffic jam. Since most of the guests took the route we took hence most of them started coming only after 1.

We did take a few family photos however Rohan was hardly amused by anything around. He did play with the baloons for some time however he decided to cling his gradfather from the start of the party. We had taken some haldi applied rice for elders to bless Rohan and (BIL SIL...) but rohan played with it and threw it all around. Rohan either clung to us or his grandpa. But surprisingly he took fancy to one of my colleague's daughter and ssat on her lap playing with her.
We surprised Madhavi -bhaskar (SIL-BIL) with a cake cutting and garnland exchange for their 10th wedding anniv. Maddie was blushing as pink as her saree, in her new pretty hair style. (Personally i loved her natural curly hair.. but this is also nice!)

All guests like the food, and the arrangements of round tables added to convinience of having abuffet plus a good sitting.

Rohan refused to have his milk or sleep in a new place.. so by 3:40 after most of the guests left i packed him off with my in-laws and nanny to go home. Poor kid was so tired, the Nanny told me later that he shitted, had his milk and then fell asleep. he was sleeping when we reached home and woke up only after Medha peeped in to see if he was awake. (Rohan senses his sisters within a radius of our floor.. he will stop what he is doing and wait for them).

Overall event went well, every body enjoyed. Rohan's toy collection went up like crazy. We have still not given him 80% of those, cause he is a lil young for some of them.

Note: Had i been more meticulous there is much more to write but i am already 2 month late for this.. cant write more.
