Some good advertisements

Now that I criticized or made fun of something.. let me find something nice in the same genre!

I actually like watching ads.. well they are definitely better than “Kyun Ki…”, “Balika Vadhu” (how can someone even make such a retro serial yaar!)

So these are some of my favorite adds:
· Aise dag, waise dag surf excel hai na! ( Me and my ma use this line in various formats!)
· Cadbury adds (now they are a lil too mushy but they are nice anyday!)
· Utterly Butterly delicious ( On Mount Road Chennai on a particular traffice signal circle, there is ( or used to be) a hoarding which changes the Amul butter add often as per the latest buzz in the nation!)
· Pamper or Huggies adds.. the kids are shooo cute!
· Ponds Cold cream.. uuuugly buugly goo! (not aired often)
· Limca add in which Sushma Reddy features
· Paint add which had the tag line “Har Ghar Kuch Kehta” ( was it asian paints!)
· Pepsi Amir khan adds almost all
· Titan again because of Amir Khan

These are a few that come to my mind now.
Hey BTW guess what! some of Kamasutra Condom ads have no “people” in them… one of the award winning ads of K’sutra (in print) has a TV witched on with a football match on.. just two cushions in front of the TV… and a tag line .. “To the most played sport in the world” (almost this.. cant remember it verbatim!)… now that is awesome imagination and use of brains I say!
Now I wont write anymore on this topic.. as one of you said …”why suddenly this topic”… well hazar topics in mind .. which comes to mind when I have time I write…

Sex Sells

Sex sells!
Now this is what a friend said when I thought loudly what a woman was doing in an advertisement (ad. from here on) of say shaving cream or razor…..
Well the ads. have come a long way from then I guess! And guess what he was right .. well.. how else does one explain…… a mango drink becoming “Aaamasutraa”….. Katrina Kaif… sipping a mango juice in such suggestive ways…. “MANGO JUICE”…. I mean hello!!!!

Look at the latest Limca ad... no not the one where Ms. Reddy (Meghna Reddy’s sister.. whats her name! i think its Sushma Reddy) and this cute looking guy run around splashing each other.. now that one was cute it had romance and friendship.. this new Limca ad. shows a woman and man looking bored ( the man has no shirt on and the woman has a small something on! .. matlab subtlety ki bhi zarrorat nahi samzi jaati!) .. she opens limca suddenly the house is full of water with these two frolicking around! …..Limca.. last I checked was an aerated drink

Latest one of the Paint ad. (The wall paint name is atleast PASSION).. has Irfan Khan and Konkana Sen.. getting all cosy… well if there is a house to paint you can get all feelings from frustration ( the painters don’t turn up even 4 hours after the appointed hour)… to sheer relief ( that thank god its done!)… but… umm… horny????? Which paint is that!!!

Next product … is Ice cream.. Kwality Walls ad., its not on air any more.. this woman in an itsy-bitsy runs amock for one lick of the icecream!!!

Even a few years back they re-leaunched the Lirl with a new add.. the couple was running around.. with all squels and looks…. For 3/4th of the add I was like “par add kiska hai!”

But one ad. Which is hilarious is .. Amul undergarments… this woman is washing her male partner’s ( array bhai husband hai nahi hai mere ko kya!) undergarment… and you should watch the expression and action…. It is definitely an amazing idea… I find it better than that stupid VIP ad with a guy saving damsel in distress with his robe opening to show off his undie… :)
This Amul brand has another version with chimps!

So as this dude said… sex sells… none of the products might be sold due to such ads but definitely .. people will remember!

And oh how can i forget ... "Badda Hai to Behatar Hai!!!"... Vediocon ( before Mr. Prasoon Joshi gave Chow Mow To Dhoots!).... now this had some South African cricket player sitting on an Elephant saying "Badda Hai to Behtar Hai!" .. with the TV (for which he says "Badda") no where in site! So well my dirty mind always asked ...'Kya badda hai to behtar hai"... ha ha ha!!!!!

News On Rohan!

I have not blogged for so long that now blogging has gone into the infinite to –do list. August was busy with work and visit of my parents , other relatives, Rohan’s Bday bash etc.
I have started writing the complete blog on Rohan’s bday celebrations, but it has taken so long to complete it that most probably I will complete it with a shorter update than I had planned earlier. ( After I posted the Rohan’s bday blog.. SIL said it was a “fact sheet”… J … I guess yes it was .. didn’t have time for smart alec comments!

Also the Bday blog was Rohan dude to read later .. when he has some crazy demands lilke “throw bday party in some obnoxiously priced place”.. I will give him “ I am done doing crazy stuff for your bday! Now lets get practical” ha ha ha ha!

So whats the lil dude been upto so far:

• 23rd August Rohan got his high chair. The shri ganesh was done by guruji by feeding Rohan some porridge. Since we wanted to take photo and all his breakfast got delayed and in sheer hunger he threw a tantrum. When I tried to feed him his lunch on the chair he sat for few minutes and then slide half down and got trapped between the chair and table. I got so scared , I couldn’t dislodge the table and screamed for Ramesh to help. Poor guy was downstairs and rushed up in fear. I got a ear full for freaking out like that. So for first 10 days Rohan refused to let me attach the table to the chair. Eventually one day while feeding him his dinner I showed him how the table helped him to keep his toys while I fed him. Now the dude eats with the table in front of him with all sorts of toys. He throws them down and I have to pick those up and then only he eats the next spoon. King hain bhai…..
  Recently he has learned to stand on the high chair.. so in middle of the meal he stands up , facing the other side… am I supposed to feed his lil cute bums or what?… It takes all my patience to make him sit for the entire meal.
• Rohan started walking on 11th September. Initially it was a Donald duck (borrowing this term from a friend who used it to explain his son’s walk) style but now he is more confident. He wants to walk all the time unless when he is following me and he has to catch up, he crawls. Now he even walks holding some big toy, small water sprinkler.. whatever he can carry. He has tried to walk with heavy toys too and result was as expected.. dude fell .. thankfully didn’t fall on his face.
• Rohan has started munching chapatti, bread and omelets but still his meals are semi solid food.
• Rohan was down with viral fever a week before dushherra. (is this how one spells dushherra?)
• Rohan made a trip to BIL SIL’ place in b’lore and slowly learnt to play with Madhu and Medha (their daughters) . The thing is Rohan still wants his toys to make some or other sound. So if its not a squeeze toy it has to be banged on floor. So poor girls watched as all their toys were squeezed and then banged on the floor! Madhu and medha have lovely hair and hence Rohan did what he is best at.. pull them. My hair are neither so nice and nor as accessible as theirs. Plus he knows if he pulls my hair , I pull his ( I actually do that do discourage him from pulling my hair! Well all of you who think its mean on my part… try waking up with a small hands pulling your hair with all his might!) You have to see Rohan’s tight fist to believe how difficult it his to make him let go something he is holding.
• Rohan went to Pune and then to Shirdi Sai baba temple. It was some trip.. never felt so drained ever before in Shirdi. Do not even have interest to blog in detail about it.
• Rohan now shakes his head to say “No” or Yes. Mostly his response is so right that I now really pay heed to it. If he says “NO” to food and I still stuff in his food.. he is bound to puke.
• Prabha The nanny is no more “the nanny”. Her highness refused to turn up after we came back from our trip to Bangalore and we were told by her husband to “adjust”. My dear patient husband couldn’t take it any longer and told him not to send her to our house anymore.
• The cook Mary has been appointed as “The nanny” now! For her its windfall with increased sal and for Rohan its not a shocker since he was always very friendly with her.
• Rohan for past 4 months has been asking “what is this?”, in his own style. He looks at anything which he wants to enquire about and says “iddi?”… and then expects you to tell him in detail… listen to this.. on seeing an elaborate painting at BIL’s place in ‘lore he asked “iddi”, ramesh said “painting”… the lil dude was not satisfied till ramesh told him about the yatch, houses, boats etc in the painting. If he asks something and his grandparents cant figure out what is he asking for he will keep asking till he is satisfied.
• Rohan has started eating little omelet, chapatti, biscuits and some carrot pieces.
• Rohan’s first chappati was not home made one. On 3rd Oct when we all went out for lunch in Pune, he insisted on eating what we were eating. So though apprehensive I gave him some Naan, and bingo the dude nicely munched it away. Also rohan was so misbehaved that day, I have never seen him like this. He was screaming till we made him walk around the restaurant, cried till we gave him what he wanted.. we call it grand parents natak time… he does all this when any set of grandparents are around… total drama king!
  In middle of this lunch my father went out of the restaurant to get biscuits for him.. saying that poor child wanted something to eat!!! Helloo he had his lunch just before we left home 10 min back! Only thing he wanted was “what is mummy eating”!!! But you get the picture.. grandparents sab nkhara uthate hain so grandchildren dish it out! And mind you this is “my father”…. Baba (as I call him) had no pateience with tantrums for us! A no was a no.. and if we still insisted chances of a slap were hgher than getting the thing!!!! An now see him… Rohan ye, Rohan wo!…. He laughs and says “ Arrey grandparents isliye to hote hain! Aaaji (my grandma) karti thi na tum logon (me and my sis) ko pamper (yes she used to, may god rest her soul in peace!… there are some beautiful memories of our summer hols at her place.. spoiled to the hilt with her cooking, her love and patience!) Sorry I digressed!
  
  That’s in nutshell about our lil champ.
  
  Those of who know Ramesh closely, and thought that this “cool” guy was not too emotional and believed in “practical” way of living….. well… he is still all that .. but you should see him with his son…. Ramesh dotes on Rohan……. I never thought he will just be soooooooooooo involved… unlike other men.. who have their life and “father” role.. for Ramesh every thing is in and around Ro dear!
  This information is for u lil dude Ro…. Don’t ever misbehave with your dad… you will get two tight ones from me… no father can ever match upto what Ramesh does for you! He has fed you , bathed you, put you to sleep, stayed home while I had had to go office, rushed back from office since the nanny was leaving, rocked you to sleep at 1:30 am…

You all might think that I am going overboard.. but the fact is that everyday I realize that I would not have been able to continue to work and raise a child without 200% involvement of Ramesh and hence when I write about Ro … Ramesh is always there!

BIL- SIL (Madhavi & Bhaskar) will smile at this para.. they think I am crazy head over heals for Ramesh…
